1. What is the Extended Warranty?

Pursuant to the terms of the TFI Settlement, Ford has agreed to extend the new vehicle warranty coverage on Motorcraft® TFI Modules to the first 100,000 miles of vehicle operation. Other than the time and mileage limitations, all conditions and provisions in Ford’s limited written vehicle warranty apply to the extended warranty benefit for the TFI module.

2. How do I take advantage of the Extended Warranty?

If you believe you are experiencing a problem with your Motorcraft® TFI Module in the first 100,000 miles of vehicle operation, you may present your Class Vehicle to a Ford Dealer for repair in order to seek replacement under the Extended Warranty provision of the TFI Settlement. If a Ford Dealer determines that your Motorcraft® TFI Module has failed and requires a replacement that falls within the conditions and provisions in the vehicle warranty, and your vehicle is within the first 100,000 miles of vehicle operation, the Ford dealer must replace your TFI module at no cost to you provided you do the following: (a) sign a sworn statement at the Ford dealership (which does not need to be notarized) attesting that, to the best of your knowledge, your vehicle has been in operation for 100,000 miles or less at the time of service, (b) that the 5-digit odometer is on the first time around, and that (c) you did not request exclusion from the Settlement Class.

3. Can a Ford Dealer refuse to extend warranty service?

Yes. But only if the Ford Dealer believes in good faith that the vehicle has been in operation for more than 100,000 miles based on the circumstances, including past service records (if available) and inspection of the condition of the vehicle. Under the warranty, the Ford Dealer need not replace the module if the dealer determines that the TFI module does not require replacement.

4. What should I do if the Ford Dealer refuses to replace my Motorcraft® TFI Module under the extended warranty?

A. ASK THE DEALER TO PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN EXPLANATION FOR THE REASON(S) YOUR CLAIM WAS DENIED

Ford has requested that, in the event a Ford Dealer determines a Class Member is ineligible for extended warranty service, the dealer provide the Settlement Class Member with a written explanation of the reasons for this determination on a specified document that is part of Ford’s warranty program.

The dealer has been requested by Ford to make a contemporaneous record of the denial and reasons therefore and to send this record to Ford through Ford’s electronic warranty database.

B. IF YOU FEEL YOUR CLAIM WAS DENIED IN ERROR, YOU MAY APPEAL THE DENIAL WITHIN SIXTY (60) DAYS

The denial shall include an Appeal Form and shall notify Class Members that they have sixty (60) days to appeal the denial of their extended warranty claim.

5. My Ford Dealer claims he/she does not know anything about the extended warranty and/or has refused to provide anything to me in writing. What should I do?

If the Ford Dealer to whom you have brought a Class Vehicle for repairs claims to have no knowledge about the Extended Warranty, you can telephone a Ford field service representative at 1-800-392-3673.. The service representative taking the call will not be authorized to make a determination as to eligibility. The concern will be forwarded to a regional Ford service manager, who will review the matter with the local Ford dealer and respond to the customer.

If the Ford Dealer continues to deny coverage under the Extended Warranty and/or refuses to provide a written explanation of the reasons for denying you coverage under the Extended Warranty (see FAQ No. 4A, above), you have sixty (60) days to file an appeal of the denial of Extended Warranty Service
